In this workshop we’ll make an illustrated portrait with the technique of digital watercolor. For this, we’ll start from the creation of a photographic moodboard with which we’ll make the first sketches. Then, once we have the closed idea, we will proceed to the final art with this technique that mixes the freshness and sensitivity of traditional watercolor with the effects and possibilities of Photoshop.

Ricard López (Ricardilus) was born in Barcelona in 1994, where he lives.
His passion for drawing was born from his memory use, always surrounded by pencils, colors and notebooks. Maybe the point would be that he’s never stopped drawing.
The decision to dedicate himself to art doesn’t arise until he begins artistic studies when he is 16 years old. Once they are finished, he enters the Fine Arts career, although he leaves it in the first year. This is when he begins a Degree in Animation and 3D, since he has always been passionate about bringing his drawings to life. He alternates classes with different courses related to illustration. He finishes his degree with an animated short film (“La Folie”), with which he’s selected and awarded at different renowned events. The following year he enrolled in Graphic Arts in Barcelona and graduated in 2017.

He is currently engaged only in illustration, alternating all kinds of projects (publishing, commercial, advertising) with different artistic courses he teaches.
His illustrations are based on the feminine figure, since his purity, sensitivity and sensuality are the adjectives he tries to convey in each of his strokes. Despite this, he believes that a good illustrator should never stagnate in a single style, so he tries to discover new worlds and techniques every day. In his portfolio you can find works ranging from “classical/atelier” style to children’s illustrations.

At the age of 25, he has worked for publishers such as Penguin Random House, labels such as Lumen, Alfaguara, Nube de Tinta, Editorial Planeta or Editorial Bromera, companies such as TSL Jewellery (Hong Kong) or Sofarsounds, and also for organizations such as the Museo Nacional de Arte de Catalunya (MNAC) or the Teatre Tantarantana, among others.
WHO IS THE WORKSHOP AIMED AT?
This course is aimed at all audiences with a minimum knowledge of drawing. No experience with Photoshop is necessary, as we will dedicate part of the course to getting to know the program from the ground, although if the student already knows it, it will help make everything more dynamic.
